Personality & Appearance
Personality: It's a miracle Allen was accepted into this school. He used to be a terrible student and frequently got into fights with other kids, ending up with him being kicked out of quite a few schools in his youth. However in his recent years he has focused on getting his grades up, and has made quite an excellent student. Now he prefers to be on his own, away from the other populace as he is easily riled up and is still undergoing anger management. Deep breathing is the best way for him to calm down. Allen can be described as a 'short tempered introvert' or even a 'prickly porcupine'. He purposefully ignores others and keeps his distance, though in reality it's less that he dislikes people and more that he is afraid of losing his temper. Allen is deeply afraid of his past and the prospect that he could become like that again. He doesn't want to end up a criminal who uses violence as a means to an end.
So he's trying to fix himself. However he feels the solution requires that he stay away from people and bury himself in work. When he has to socialize, he's cold and answers with short responses. With only a few people, namely his little sister, he is a lot warmer. Smiling often and speaking with a gentle voice, even telling jokes. He also acts this way around animals. His volunteer work is for an animal adoption group. He spends his weekends playing, feeding, and cleaning up after the animals and sometimes goes to adoption events to help find them new homes. He can be surprisingly polite in these professional settings. His smiles are rare but when he smiles it's always a beautiful sight. When he's not doing school or volunteer work, he is usually reading or listening to music.
Appearance: He has an average build, with lean muscles and a flat stomach. His hair is often a mess, reaching to the nape of his neck on the back and sometimes covering one side of his face on the front. It's dark, black hair that frays stylishly and makes the features of his pale face stick out more. His skin is pale, not pale enough to look sickly however. His eyes are blue, deep like a bottomless pool in a desert. The most colorful part of his appearance that you want to soak up. The rest of him, including the outfits and any accessories he wears, are monotone in color, usually black or white or black and white. Sometimes grey. Rarely he wears things with color, though it's more of a personal preference as he likes monochromatic schemes.
His ears are pierced, along with his tongue, one eye brow, and a snake bite on his lip. He likes to wear black or silver studs, and has been known to wear a black ear ring in place of a stud. He likes his piercings and will sometimes toy with them or just touch them when he's nervous. Like it was mentioned before, his wardrobe consists of black and white clothing mainly, some black tees with colored graphics, and some dark blue jeans. Mainly he prefers to wear simple tees and dark jeans or slacks. For the hell of it he will sometimes throw on a bland black tie. He also has a dark grey hoodie that he likes to wear when it's cold. His reason for having such a simple clothing is that he really doesn't care about what he wears, as long as it's comfortable. He's been told he has no fashion sense and he is inclined to agree.
Somewhere in the world there is a photo of him in a pink tutu and princess tiara, taken by his little sister who insisted they play dress up.

A little bit extra
Likes:
- His Sister - The only person in his family he actually cares about. He thinks his sister is adorable and is determined to protect her. He's upset at being separated from her to attend this academy, but he has accepted that she needs to grow on her own.
- Books - He loves literature, reading books during his downtime. He takes English classes for fun. Although he loves stories of all kinds, he is an analytical writing and lacks creativity.
- Animals - Allen has always wanted a pet but he was never allowed one. He adores animals, especially the cute fuzzy small ones, and volunteers to help care for them at an adoption center.
- The Color Black - It's his favorite color, he naturally gravitates toward black objects and clothing.
- Music - He prefers alternative music and rock. He really likes Queen and Green Day. He often hums 'Yellow Submarine' to himself when he thinks he's alone.
- Learning/School - He likes busywork because it keeps his mind occupied.
Dislikes:
- Violence - Although he is a great fighter and has lots of experience with it, he has turned back on that life and despises violence.
- Loosing His Temper - Allen fears he'll lose his temper all the time, even in situations that wouldn't make him angry anyway. It gets in the way of his social experiences and he often times excludes himself to avoid becoming angry.
- Reminders of His Past - He has a few nicknames from his delinquent days and some enemies who would like to get revenge on him. He mainly came to this academy because no one from his old schools attend it. Being reminded of how he used to be upsets him.
- Punks - Punk type people annoy him the most. Mainly because they remind him of himself, and the shady kinds of people he used to hang around. He outright ignores punks because he doesn't trust himself to behave when around them.
Flaws:
- Anger Management Issues - He's easily angered and easily misunderstands a situation. He gets so anger he shakes and he has to get away and do his deep breathing exercises to calm himself down.
- Introvert - He has closed himself off from other so much that he is intentionally an introvert. People assume it is because he dislikes them, but in truth it is just a reflex from trying to keep from losing his temper. In reality this is hurting him more than helping him, as he doesn't have any real friends.
- Unimaginative - He has no sense of style, his looks being a case of preference rather than an attempt to look cool. It works out okay for him. He has no talent with art or creative writing, and hardly understands outrageous, imagination-fueled concepts. He doesn't really have a lot of ideas and prefers things to stay the way they are.
- Overprotective - Mainly relating to his little sister, though he can be overprotective of anyone else he comes to care for. He might act aggressively towards anything he perceives as a threat, and before he realizes it he's being controlling. He tries not to be like this but he gets carried away when it comes to the things and people he loves.
History
Allen's father abused his mother until he was killed by a drunk driver when Allen was 5. His little sister, Kaye, was 2 at the time. His mother was distant, taking care of Allen and Kaye at the bare minimum level, often neglecting them. She took care of Kaye more than Allen however. Although Allen loved his sister, he despised her for a few years when he was younger, Jealous of the love their mother showed her and wishing she'd give him more attention. His bottled up feelings of jealousy and spite turned him to violence at school. He was frequently in the principals office for punching other students and getting into fights. His nickname around school was 'Hothead' and eventually 'Fireman', due to his last name and his short temper. The fights just made Allen's mother neglect him more, causing him to get angrier and angrier.
Whether he developed anger issues or if he got them from his father, there's no way to tell. But in these crucial years of development, Allen was often left to fend for himself. Eventually his friends left him out of fear and the only people he hung out with were the guys who aligned themselves with him to avoid being beaten. He managed to never get a police record but he was very close to being charged with assault. In middle school his mother was diagnosed with depression and she isolated herself, prompting Allen and Kaye's grandmother to move in to take care of her. Allen had started seeing a therapist that worked for the school he was attending (It was either a therapist or expulsion) and he started taking care of his sister. His anger towards her had long dissolved, and he found himself enjoying the company of his little sister. He realized that if he was going to continue this destructive behavior, that he'd end up in jail. And then Kaye would be alone. He decided to better himself so he could support his sister and make sure she'd never feel like no one was looking out for her. So she wouldn't be lonely, like he had been for a long time.
He paid more attention in school, got better grades, cut off ties with the violent people he'd met. He took care of his sister and learned to control his anger- well, at least learned how to suppress it. He found interests he didn't expect he'd like, reading, listening to music, even jogging (he needs a physical activity to exert pent-up aggression). And eventually, his mother got better. She started seeing a therapist as well and began cooking dinner for Allen and Kaye like she used to. Their grandmother stayed on in the house, especially after seeing how her daughter's neglect was affecting Kaye. She didn't see eye-to-eye with Allen, as she just knew him as a punk kid and often saw the abusive man who married her daughter when looking at Allen rather than seeing her grandson. But they agreed that Kaye needed a good influence and role model. It was his grandmother that suggested he attend Amesti Springs Boys Academy. And after months of arguing and debate, he finally realized that maybe it was best if he go there.
