| Soft, ticks echoed throughout the convenience store as Nikolai softly drummed his fingers on the counter in boredom after all, his shift only had five more minutes before coming to an end. An end which meant he was free to do whatever he pleased for the remainder of his day. Of course, it wasn't like he had plans, but he desperately wanted to leave work as the day had been slow. A few customers had drifted in and out with only a handful actually buying something which meant most of his hours were spent drumming to the beat of the clock. Allowing a soft sigh to part from his lips, his eyes darted away from the clock knowing he couldn't make time go faster.
Only a mere minute passed before Nikolai's eyes went back to the clock only to find that he had four minutes to go. "(1) Сур'ёзна? Блін ... Чаму вы не рухацца хутчэй, час?" The Belorussian muttered under his breath as he shook his head lightly, wishing that time could pick up in speed just a little bit. Closing his eyes, Nikolai attempted to focus on something else and tried to think of his wages earned after all, he was determined to keep his promise to his father.
'If I send seventy five percent of my paycheck and keep the rest to buy a few shirts, it might be enough to pay for their rent this month and he can worry about the utilities. I think he's behind on those.' Nikolai thought bitterly after all, the income back at home was a bit rough, but the male was determined to do whatever he could to help his father and mother out. Even if it meant not buying any clothes this month. Unaware that his shift was over, a fellow co-worker had softly tapped the male's shoulder before dismissing him for the rest of the day. | Célestine Duvont - 309 Words - (1) Seriously? Damn... Célestine regarded the building in front of her with an expression of distaste before sighing and lightly pushing on the right-side door. It swung open much more easily than the girl had expected, and she resolved that perhaps this store wasn’t so broken down and about to go out of business as she had first assumed. After all, the windows seemed to be quite clean as well... oh, that was right. Blinking to herself, the red haired girl ignored the distracting components of her surroundings and instead focused on her goal; that is, to buy a carton of milk. Célestine glanced around and allowed her demeanor to relax, as it seemed that there were a few people still around, and she wasn’t in the mood to commit a murder today after someone saw through her façade. Striding further into the small store, the girl perused the shelves until it occurred to her that of course, milk would be in the refrigerated section. On her way there, Célestine shook her head at her own actions; there was just an odd feeling in the atmosphere today, and she was having more trouble staying grounded than usual. The girl chose the first carton of milk she saw, which happened to be a gallon of 2%. Célestine carried the large plastic container to the nearest checkout area-- she was unfamiliar with the setup of stores such as these but knew that as long as she acted as though she were at her leisure, no one would notice a single thing. And of course, no one bothered to survey the customers much at all, unless they seemed particularly dangerous; and Célestine was dressed like a student of Amesti Springs Girls Academy, a college only a little ways away from this store. The girl automatically smiled at the cashier as she placed the milk onto the counter. She placed her purse beside the milk and unzipped it, fishing around for a little while before managing to procure a twenty dollar bill. Célestine then handed the money to the cashier, whom she realized was a young man, and gave another smile. ”Thank you very much,” she said cheerfully, her French accent barely discernable after spending half of a year in North America. Deciding that it wouldn’t hurt to socialize a bit, the redhead inquired with a conversational tone, ”Are you a student as well?”XOXO SHIN OF GS + THQ

| Nikolai headed in the back when he heard a familiar little chime of the bell that singled a customer had entered the store. Of course, he paid no mind after all, his shift was over and he was in the process of clocking out. Once clocked out, he grabbed his messenger bag before heading up back to the cash register after all, the staff room was sort of hidden behind the counter by a few shelves. Yet, when he entered the register area, he found himself to be the only one there... Scanning the store, he noticed the customer was towards the refrigerator section, but he couldn't locate the other employee. Setting his messenger bag down, he figured it wouldn't hurt to stay a little longer while he waited for the other employee to show up once more.
It wasn't long before said customer rounded up to the cash register with a cartoon of milk while giving him a friendly smile which he returned back. The customer was obviously female who had long red hair, and was wearing a school uniform from Amesti Springs Girls Academy. Scanning her item, the total came to be two dollars and eighty seven cents with cash. Fishing around her purse, she produced a twenty before handing over the cash. Pressing a few buttons, the drawer to the register popped up as he started to collect her change of seventeen dollars and thirteen cents.
”Are you a student as well?” The question popped up as he was almost finished getting her change. Nodding his head, he offered her what he owed her as he spoke up with his thick Belorussian accent which was often mistaken as Russian at times. Despite, being in America so long, the male still held the accent pretty well, but then again he found himself speaking his mother tongue more often, then English. "Yeah, I attend the boys academy." Nikolai informed her as he gave her another smile before noticing an the missing employee slowly making his way to the front of the store.
"It's my first year." He added in as well before reaching over to the side and grabbing his messenger bag. | |
