Distractions in Studying (Alice)
|
Post by Teresa Vicario on Aug 10, 2015 17:08:25 GMT -5
| The library always had a calming effect on her. It was one of her favorite places at the academy. She could have spent days, weeks, probably even months, perusing the shelves and reading to her heart's content. More often than not, when she had some free time, she browsed the languages section or walked between the shelves quietly, picking up a book here or there. She liked to walk around and listen to the quiet conversations that people would have. She liked to talk to the librarian. Everything about the place, Tess liked.
It was one of her favorite places to read, second only to a certain spot outside when it was raining. Teresa sat at a table in the library, her attention taken up almost entirely by a textbook that was laying on the table. Next to it was a notebook, one in which she was taking detailed notes regarding the subject. She had a test in a few days, after all, and she needed to study. Her attention was only slightly diverted by the blonde who had only just joined her at the table.
Tess glanced up from her book, wondering if Alice had joined her in order to study as well. It didn't look like she had any intention of doing anything of the sort, but Tess supposed there was a chance. She smiled at Alice when she sat down and then returned her focus to her textbook, supposing that Alice was there to join her in reading.

BECAUSE YOU'RE HOT THEN YOU'RE COLD. Even though it was already the beginning of August, the autumn wind hasn't come so fast. The sun was glaring outside the humidity was like a parasite crawling under Alice's skin. It made her feel sick. Alice managed to sneak out of the gym class after her methodical acting that swooped the teacher's feeling. She was supposed to head to the nurse, but it was too far way. Yes, a thousand steps is far away, alright? The dorms seemed like a good place to head to, but she didn't really know anybody she could leech off. So instead, she headed for the library. It seemed like a good enough place for some relaxing time, that is well, if someone didn't decide to fawn over her. Not that she minded the affection from strangers.
Alice pushed the wooden doors to the library door gently as she peeked her head in. The place was enormous and shelves ten times taller than her lined uniformly. "woah.." she muttered to herself loudly. Alice had never been to the library, nor was she really interested in visiting it. She had a library at the villa if she wanted access to one, but still, the school library impressed her. "This is awesome!" The librarian turned to Alice, telling her to keep quiet. She put her hand against her mouth as she waved at the librarian with an 'oops, sorry' face.
She grabbed ahold of the nearest book she could reach which happened to be a textbook. Oh well, it's not like she was going to study. As long as it was going to make a nice pillow, Alice could care less. There were many empty chairs and tables, but where was the fun in being alone. The blonde took a seat in front of Tess who seemed to be taking quiet an interest in the textbook. Alice never could figure how people can get so invested in a textbook. She put her head down bluntly on the textbook as she kept glancing at Tess. Was she a statue? How can one not move for so long. Alice started shifting more and more, seeing if she could distract Tess. 'For Tess, there is textbook.' Alice made a mental note. Or else how can one look away from this beauty for too long? Alice flipped her hair, hoping that catches Tess's attention. Next, the blonde tried the funny faces out of curiosity to see if Tess notices her this time.

| Her studying had been going quite well, but now she was beginning to get more and more distracted by the pretty blonde sitting at her table. The girl was shifting around in her seat quite a bit, like she was already tired of sitting there. Or maybe she had an itch that she just couldn't scratch? Tess ignored it, though there was a small smile on her lips as she thought about how she'd heard this is awesome so clearly from her spot in the library, and so clearly Alice, and then the librarian telling her to please not be so loud. It was just too funny to her. She'd giggled about it before Alice had reached her and now she was only smiling about it.
The blonde flipped her hair next, and while Tess thought her hair was quite pretty, it did not completely take her attention away from her studies. She figured Alice was just messing with her hair, not actually trying to get her attention. The faces, though... that got her. Teresa noticed them out of the corner of her eye, catching one with a quick glance, and then pretended to take notes while watching the girl out of the corner of her eye. Her smile widened a little more with each face until finally she started giggling.
She put down her pencil and sat back in her chair, still giggling as she looked at Alice. Tess could put two and two together; she figured the faces were to try and get her attention, so the other things must have been for the same reason. She just hadn't put it together until now. "Okay, okay, you've got my attention, no more studying," she said with a smile. "What's up, Alice?"

BECAUSE YOU'RE HOT THEN YOU'RE COLD. Alice raised her eyebrow as she twisted her lips slightly. She couldn't figure out what Tess was smiling about. What was so interesting about a textbook anyway? Alice would probably cry if she was stuck to a book for too long. On the other hand, it's not that surprising considering she had seen Tess in her classes before with her nose stuck in a book. Tess was one of the few that didn't hang around Alice too much. Alice internally gasped; maybe Tess was making fun of her in her head this whole time, but then again, not everything was about her and so she pouted.
The blonde immediately halted making faces in response to the giggling. Her face went as red as a tomato as she tried to avert away from Tess with a humph. Alice twirled a piece of her hair as a distraction from her own embarrassment. She leaned back in her chair, faking coolness and cleared her throat. "O-of course I did. Who wouldn't want to pay attention to me." Alice raised an eyebrow at Tess curiously "how'd you know my name? We've barely talked before. I guess I'm just too popular for my own good." She pulled off an extremely dramatic expression, but then the librarian hushed her again for being too loud, warning the next time, she'll be thrown out. Alice frowned and crossed her arms defiantly. "Why do you come in here so often anyways? That grandma's got a stuck up attitude." This time she was much quieter. "Why don't you come with me on some adventures? I have some ideas~ Hmm, we could skip next class and go to town for some shopping, or we could steal some cloths from the dorm, or we could put cinnamon in the cafeteria's food. What do you say?" She smiled with the most innocent smile.
(OOC: For more plotting, do you want Tess to help Alice study? Since, I mean Alice's grades are on the verge and everything xD)

| The girl blushed as Tess giggled, which made her feel just a little guilty. She hadn't meant to embarrass her, but she had found the faces funny. She didn't hang around with Alice too much, but that wasn't because she didn't like the girl or anything like that. On the contrary, Tess actually quite liked Alice. At least, she liked what she knew about her. She usually liked louder people; they'd do a lot of the talking so Tess could sit back and do a lot of the listening. But from what she'd heard, Alice was a nice girl.
"I'm sure everyone wants to pay attention to you. I could hardly resist you, myself," she teased quietly, her smile remaining as she looked at Alice. "I've just got a good memory. That and I've heard it in the halls a few times, so I just ended up remembering." She giggled again as the librarian shushed Alice for the second time, though she covered her mouth as if to hide it from the other girl. She didn't want to embarrass her again. "I like it in here. All the books, the quiet, all that. And the librarian is very nice. She just likes her library to be quiet, that's all. Try and be more quiet for her, I'm sure she'll like you." She didn't have a problem with Tess, anyway. At least, not that she knew of.
Skip class? Steal? Put cinnamon in... she wasn't sure about any of those. They definitely sounded adventurous, but... hmm. "I'd be happy to go on an adventure," she said, "but... I'm not sure about those ideas. Are you sure those are okay to do?" She wasn't sure if she should trust the girl's innocent smile or not.
(ooc: sure! tess would be happy to help her study. i figure she offers and they keep getting together but half the time alice just distracts her until study time is over haha)

BECAUSE YOU'RE HOT THEN YOU'RE COLD. Alice made a face, feeling conflicted on how fast Tess agreed with her statement. Not a lot people react positively to her ego issues. A small smile played at her lips, slightly amused. "Heard it in the halls? I bet there's not much good thing said about me, but no worries," she singsonged, "they're all idiots who are just jealous of me." Alice put up a wide smile that almost seemed faked. It wasn't like she didn't know that some girls liked to gossip about her; how spoiled she is, or how rich her family, or how much of a brat she was. But what could she do, but listen. Half of it was probably true anyways.
The blonde made a popping noise with her lips before pursing them like a fish would. "Well, you're going to have to tell me your name since I have the memory capacity that of a fish." Alice squinted her eyes at Tess suspiciously. "You just totally laughed, didn't you?" She pouted once again as she put her chin against the textbook. "If you say so. I still think she's a stuck up. I'm really not that loud," she whispered as the librarian took a deathly glance at her.
Alice's smile grew the more she studied Tess's response. She might just get herself a partner in crime. She stood up with excitement, "of course they're okay to do! It'll be a great adventure. Say you'll do them, please," she pulled off the best puppy face she had up her sleeves. The librarian finally had enough and she came closer to Alice. "If you have time to give the staff more trouble, Baudet, then I suggest you do some studying. Your grades are going to need improvement if you're planning on graduating." Alice made a surprised 'eep' noise. "How the hel---how in the world do you know my name?" She gasped, "I really love that you love me enough to stalk me, but please, I prefer not to die young." The librarian's face twisted in irritation. "Young lady, I don't forget to keep tabs on the person who put spiders in my closets." "With all due respect, I really have no idea what you are talking about ma'am." The librarian cocked her eyebrows, "oh? Do I need to make some phone calls or do I make myself clear?" Alice nodded as she swallowed hard. She looked away cautiously, nudging at Tess pleadingly for some help.
(ooc: That'd be perfect!)

| People and their egos typically didn't bother Tess. People all acted differently when it came to their ego. Alice, for example... Tess might have described her as charmingly arrogant about it. Maybe? She supposed she didn't know her well enough to really make that kind of call. Some people, though, were simply rude. So far, the other girl had not been that, so she could forgive a bit of egocentric behavior. "I wouldn't know, honestly," she said with a small smile, "I don't really listen to gossip about people." Part of that was on purpose, but it was mostly because half the time she was reading something and wasn't paying attention to it anyway. Even if someone had said something about Alice, she wouldn't have heard it.
"My name is Teresa. Most people just call me Tess, though." She gave a guilty look as Alice caught her laughing at her. "Sorry." Despite Alice's dislike of the librarian, Tess quite liked her. Maybe that was because she was quiet and got along with the woman. She hadn't had a problem with her yet.
Alice stood up in excitement, surprisingly Tess a little, and drew the attention of the librarian yet again as she spoke. Teresa was about to give her reply, an okay i'll do it, when the librarian walked over to say a few words to her new friend. She sat silently as the conversation unfolded, listening as she looked back to her textbook slightly awkwardly. She didn't feel like this conversation was meant for her ears but... getting up and walking away would only make her presence more obvious. Then Alice nudged her. She glanced from the blonde to the librarian; was she supposed to help? Oh dear.
"Perfectly clear, Mam." The librarian turned her head to look at Tess, her expression softening slightly at the familiar face. "Alice was here to study, actually. I was going to tutor her here in the library but I don't want to keep disturbing you, so we might move somewhere else." The librarian gave her a long look, then gave Alice the same long look with slightly more hostility, then looked back to Tess. "Okay, Miss Vicario. I don't mind you studying here if Miss Baudet can learn to speak significantly more quietly." She looked at Alice. "Try to listen more to Miss Vicario than you do to me, hmm?" Then she walked away, back to her desk.
Teresa looked at Alice. "That went well," she said softly, a small joking smile on her lips. The smile faded as she looked at Alice a little longer. "Do you need any help with your schoolwork?"

BECAUSE YOU'RE HOT THEN YOU'RE COLD. Alice smiled just a tiny but as she flushed with happiness. Who knew such as nice person actually existed. It didn't matter if Tess was just saying to be polite, or being genuine. Either way, it made her feel all sunshine. "You should sometimes. They get so out of the realistic dimension, it's almost funny," the blonde was smiling more than she ever did. Having a friend for once who could tolerate her didn't sound too bad. After all, she could spend less time pranking and more time socializing. It might keep her out of trouble.
"Tess~ That's a pretty name." She chuckled amusingly. Alice pursed her lips slightly feeling bad. "You don't have to apologize, I'm fine with you laughing. I just tend to pout a lot." She added the last part almost inaudibly. The blonde stood up straight as Tess gave the librarian an explanation. She pulled off the same innocent smile they had before to Tess when the librarian stared at her long and hard. "Yes, ma'am! I'll listen to Tess if it means I can err.....study in here...!" She chuckled nervously. As soon as the librarian walked away, Alice stuck out her tongue playfully before sitting back down in front of Tess. The blonde let out a relieved sigh as she leaned back into her chair. Then, she clasped her hand together in a thankful manner. "Thanks for the help there, Tess. I don't know what I would've done without you."
Alice gave Tess a long hard blank stare as she was offered to be tutored. Was she dead serious? The young female was indeed in need of a tutor for her nearly failing grades, but her mind just went blank at the thought of studying. She fiddled with her fingers a bit before taking out her phone to typing in something... "Maybe...just maybe?" Alice laughed reluctantly as she stuck out her phone to Tess, that was frozen on the screen of her grades; the reality of her student life.

| Tess was pretty sure that if this situation had just been between Alice and the librarian, things would not have gone as well as they did. In fact, she was confident things would have ended with Alice receiving a lecture and then being thrown out of the library. Considering Alice's attitude toward the librarian, and the librarian's clear dislike of the blonde, she didn't doubt things would have gone down that way. Possibly worse. But she didn't want to toot her own horn, so to speak. She figured the situation could have been resolved calmly without her there. But judging from how the two had been acting before she spoke... probably not likely.
"Oh, it's no problem," she said with a small wave of her hand. "I'm sure you would have been just fine without me here." Then the blonde gave her a long hard stare after she asked if she needed help with her schoolwork. She hadn't said anything wrong, had she? She hadn't meant to. Maybe Alice was the proud type who didn't like needing to ask for help. Maybe she just didn't want to talk about her grades. After a few moments the other girl responded with a very reluctant sounding maybe.
Alice pulled out her phone and showed it to Teresa to reveal her grades. They were... not great. They weren't abysmal, at least? There was always a chance to recover, and Tess supposed that even if Alice's grades weren't perfect, she could get them back up. Somehow. Tutoring would be a good first step. "Well," she began quietly, "I don't mind tutoring you if you want me to. With some help I'm sure you can bring your grades up."

BECAUSE YOU'RE HOT THEN YOU'RE COLD. TAG: Teresa Vicario | NOTES: TOTAL POST KILL, SHOULD WE END IT HERE? | WORDS: 237 Alice almost felt uneasy as the phone screen flashed her grades in front of Tess. It's not like she was denying that she's not the smartest...well at least in her head, she wasn't denying it, not that she would ever admit it outside either. Honestly, she was glad it was Tess who happened to be in the library that day. A lot of things have gone wrong and a lot of misunderstandings could have taken hold, but Tess's somewhat modest and polite attitude had been a savior to Alice. The blonde's face lit up at the offer, grinning widely. "Really?! You'd do that? Tess, you are truly an angel, a hero, a live saver~" She wiggled a bit in excitement of not having to visit with the teachers again. Little did she know, she was going to be the cause of distraction in their future tutor sessions.
Alice then settled herself back down with a smile. "Well, I guess not today though since I have to get to the next class soon, but do you wanna make time later in town or the dorms upcoming weekend?" But then she remembered something, mumbling to herself, "I guess I'm going to start looking for my textbooks then...I'm pretty sure they're under my bed though...probably?" Alice thinks hard, but she hasn't touched her books in the longest time, she doesn't even remember what the covers looked like.
