Personality & Appearance
Personality: Cold. It's the first word most people think of when describing Ceri. She cultivates that image. From the way she looks to the way she moves, she has trained herself to portray only that which she wishes to. She is not given to random outbursts of emotion. Arrogance is often a close second if only because she takes praise and compliments as though she deserves them, hardly even noting them. In fact, it is not that she deserves them that makes her ignore them. Such praised falls flat to Ceri's ears. No matter how genuine it is, she always look for the ulterior motive. Trust is not something she gives lightly. She values the privacy of her mind and emotions and takes exception to those who try to pry.
Strangely, her love of privacy does not extend to her body. She is not modest- too many years spent changing costumes around a dozen other people with hardly room to pull up your straps, much less cover yourself. She has an ability to see beauty in nearly everything, though she rarely expresses such. Nor does she easily give praise because it always sounds false to her ears. Ceri is far more likely to push someone harder when they are doing well. It can be hard on her students, but there are those who thrive under her strict tutelage. Dance is perhaps the one way in which Ceri expresses herself. When she performs, all the walls come down.
"You cannot lie when you dance, not if you plan to do it well."
Appearance: Ceri's looks seem to match her personality quite well. Albino, her skin is milk white and delicately translucent. It's also prone to horrible sunburns without proper care. Her hair is white to match and falls straight past her waist, nearly to her knees when down. However, she rarely wears her hair loose. Her eyes are a bit unsettling, if only because they can't seem to decide on a color. In some cases they look almost blue, in others lavender, and in still others they appear pink. She is on the tall side and her body is athletic. Despite her coloring, the physique of her body prevents her from appearing too delicate or fragile.
Her bust is very small but her somewhat broad shoulders prevent her flared hips from looking out of place. Her waist is small, her legs long and graceful. Her bone structure is sharp and exceedingly feminine, but angular and harsh at the same time. From cosmetics to clothing, Ceri's looks are calculated to project the image she intends others to receive. She favors conservative, expensive looking clothing that she frequently makes herself- a teacher's budget does not always allow one to buy designer. She favors flat shoes over heels in most cases, but her clothing is usually very feminine. At work, she tends to dress in long skirts and leotards. She doesn't seem to know how to dress 'casually' as most people see it. Her make up varies depending on the day and her mood but she rarely steps out of the house without it. Even at work she wears enough to color her lips a soft rose and touch color on her cheeks. She very rarely wears mascara, preferring to play up the strangeness of her white lashes. Her hair is usually kept twisted in complicated patterns, braided and knotted to stay out of her way. She wears very few accessories and little jewelry- in fact, her ears are not even pierced.

History
Ceri's childhood was nothing spectacular. Her family was not wealthy- both her parents worked for a living to support three children. Ceri was the youngest and she was often sick. As she grew to school age, she had trouble making friends, frequently the outcast. In response she grew withdrawn and introverted, spending more of her time hiding in the library than anything else. Eventually the school counselor noticed and advised her parents to enroll her in some kind of extra curricular activity to 'break her out of her shell'. Competitive sports were out of the question for the shy girl, and music held too many costs. There was a dance program however and out of desperation her parents signed her up.
The aging Russian woman who taught the class was harsh, unforgiving, and she became Ceri's idol. Though perhaps not the most likable woman, she was strong and independent and always followed through on her word even to the children she taught. She treated them like adults and expected them to act with the maturity this warranted. Under such a watchful eye, Ceri thrived. She and her teacher became quite close. When Ceri aged out of the program and into middle school, her teacher provided her with a number of options for affordable studios to continue dancing at. For the first time in her life, Ceri fought for something. It took her six months to convince her parents that it was the best thing for her.
A late bloomer, Ceri stayed awkward and gangly well into highschool. She worked whatever odd jobs she could get to pay for her dancing and excelled in school. She had very few friends. Somewhere between her second and third year of highschool, she suddenly grew into her looks. While still not softly pretty, she began to get a certain amount of attention she wasn't used to. It both thrilled and scared her. She nearly ran away from the first boy that asked her out on a date. People suddenly wanted to be her friend, and wanted to get to know her, spend time with her. She was pretty, unusual, and talented. By the end of highschool she was used to being popular. She was also used to the backstabbing, manipulation, and gossip that was virulent in such social circles. She had dated a selection of girls and boys and decided that she quite liked both though for different reasons.
She went to a prestigious performing arts college on a scholarship. After a horrific fight with her family, who wanted her to follow a more practical path, she arrived with nothing but a backpack full of clothes and her dance bag. In college she began to compete and garnered quite a reputation as an up and coming star. Her partner was frequently one of the teacher aids. She believed they were in love. He was handsome, charming, and an excellent dancer. He was dark where she was fair, cinnamon skinned and green eyed. She though he was, perhaps, the most beautiful man she'd ever seen. They married a month after she graduated.
It wasn't two months from their honeymoon when he hit her for the first time. It was two years before she finally realized she didn't deserve it, and that no one was going to rescue her but herself. So she left him. It left her with almost nothing. But she brought herself back up, taking small time teaching positions at various studios and community colleges until an old ghost brought her attention to a better opportunity. The teacher who had originally taught her to dance, now nearing ninety, found her on the Facebook of the studio she was working at and got in touch with her. Due to her experience and competition record, the teacher thought perhaps she could try for the teaching position at a prestigous girl's school. Though not particularly hopefully, Ceri decided there wasn't much harm in trying. Imagine her surprise when she received a job offer within a few weeks.
