Where Butterflies Never Die by Broken Iris

The birds fluttered around in the early morning dusk, singing their whimsical tune of good morning. A lovely melody that carried upbeat notes and cheerful enthusiasm as they swooped through the sky with graceful beats of their wings. Birds are noticed, at least in his eyes, as one of the most joyful creatures. Always seeming to find music within a tragic existence, never flattering in their harmony as they whisk through life in naïve innocence. How wonderful that must be, to fly through life without a care, without an understanding of reality, and to be free of the corruption that humans consider normal. Ah, humans, a disgraceful bunch of animals that does nothing but soil a once pure land. Yet, they sit there and preach with disclosed lies that they’re bettering earth with their toxic actions. While the lowly ranked human’s agree with modesty when given the explanation that Mother Nature will adapt, that she’ll cave under the exploitation brought to her. Not once have the humans thought she’d retaliate one day, that she’ll crush the ones sent here to better the earth, yet have destroyed it because of their own selfish desires.

In truth, he’s quite excited for when the damnation of humans comes forth.

Even though Clancy is also man, a creature of destruction, he craves the thrill, the chaos such a war would cause. Something so terrifying in the eyes of most is looked upon with amusement for one Clancy Spera. Not once has he looked at the human species falling as a frightening ordeal, not once has he been fearful of a sudden ending coming to mankind, or flattered at the ending of his own life. Clancy has long ago accepted the fact that he will one day die, rather it be by an accident, illness, the end of the world, or by his own hands from insanity. It didn’t matter what ended up taking his life, he just hoped by then he’d have left some form of impact upon man, to hopefully go out as some form of legacy. Whether or not it was good or bad.

His mind flittered through thoughts as he idly jogs through the peaceful park. Ear buds stuck comfortably within both ear caverns as soft music plays through the cord, giving Clancy some form of sanity to his insane mind. Bored red eyes scanned the deserted land with little interest as he wondered why he picked such an ungodly time to take his daily run. He knew there wouldn’t be anything for him to observe this early in the day, seeing how the normal people were still asleep. With a grumpy huff and loss of actual motivation, Clancy slowed his pace to a leisure walk. In habit, he stuffed his hands in the black and red colored sweat pants that are strung loosely around his hips as red eyes continued to scan around in hopes of something worth his attention appears.

Appear it did. Not far from him stood a fairly tired looking dark haired man with what seems to be three cats attached to leashes and circled securely around his wrists. Slowing down his already slow motion walk, the student observed his rough looking appearance only to decide rather quickly that the man must have just rolled out of bed. Not to mention he looked awfully familiar. In a spark of newly found curiosity, Clancy approached the man. He hummed with realization that it’s the first year mathematics teacher. He drew a blank on the man’s name though, oh well, he’d learn it soon enough rather it be through the man himself or through someone else.

Pulling the ear buds from his ears and turning off his music, Clancy would move a little closer to the man. “Aren’t you a sight to behold this morning,” he’d say with the mocking tone his voice seemed to naturally carry as a small smirk formed on his lips.
